Dame Mary Archer to become an Honorary Fellow of the Guild

The Council of the Guild are delighted to announce that Dame Mary Archer has agreed to become an Honorary Fellow of our Guild. Dame Mary was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2012 Birthday Honours for services to the National Health Service.  She remains a fellow of Newnham College, Cambridge and is a visiting professor at Imperial College, London. She has been an honorary fellow St Anne's College Oxford since 2013. She serves on the Department of Trade and Industry's energy advisory group and a committee to promote science. Since January 2015, she has been chair of the trustees of the National Science Museum Group. 

Dame Mary is a keen singer, singing first alto, and enjoys Baroque and Renaissance music. She also plays the piano and belongs to a small choir, Cantus, in Cambridge. She is a non-executive director of the Britten Sinfonia, and has been President of the Guild of Church Musicians since 1989.
